‘R’ is for Rose

Rose On Wood BW

In the last of my posts about gifts or symbols I have been given during meditation (see previous posts Butterfly and Ladybird), another common one is the rose.

On looking it up, the rose seems to have many meanings, including:

• In mythology, rose meaning is associated with Aphrodite (Greek goddess of love) who was often depicted adorned with roses around her head, feet and or neck

• A carrier of secrets or tacit understanding. The term “sub rosa” means under the rose and comes from the practice of Romans hanging roses above meeting tables. Here it was understood that anything said at this table, beneath the hanging roses, was forbidden to be repeated elsewhere

• In Tarot, the rose is considered a symbol of balance. Here the beauty of the rose expresses promise, new beginnings, hope

• Red roses (which seems to be the colour I get them in) symbolise: sacrifice, immortal love, health, memorial and passion

So there we go…according to my meditation gifts over the years of butterflies, ladybirds and roses, and now deciding to look up their meaning (as a result of this blog challenge) it seems that I could be experiencing a joyful transformation, during which I should be optimistic about creating my own reality, employ passion and creativity in order to experience and understand love, wellbeing, balance and new beginnings.

Or that’s what I made of them anyway?!

Until Monday, love and meditative messages, sm x
